Today, Wednesday, the US State Department called on the Iraqi government to hold accountable those responsible for the attacks on American and international companies in Baghdad.
US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said in a press briefing, “These attacks harm Iraqis and Iraqi shepherds, as well as the capital being employed there, and therefore they are attacks on the Iraqi people.”
Miller added, "The Iraqi government must take appropriate measures to respond to these attacks and hold those responsible for them accountable."
He urged the Iraqi government to "conduct a comprehensive investigation, bring those responsible for the attacks to justice, and prevent any future attacks," noting that these actions weaken Iraq's ability to attract foreign investments. The
Caterpillar branch in the Jadriya area in the center of the Iraqi capital was targeted by an audio device. Last week, the British-American Cambridge Institute was also targeted with a homemade device within the Palestine Street area, while the KFC and Chili House restaurants were targeted in the capital.
