Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Energy and Electricity Committee, Walid Al-Sahlani, confirmed on Tuesday that the country is suffering from electrical energy problems related to gas imports.
Al-Sahlani said in an interview, “The government’s intention to invest in gas represents one of the most important current projects in Iraq to generate electricity.”
He added, “It will be self-sufficient in its need for extracted gas to generate electrical energy during the coming years, noting that the licensing rounds announced by the Ministry of Oil will contribute to increasing the quantities of natural gas extraction and self-sufficiency.”
He continued, “Achieving sufficiency of gas to operate power stations to generate electricity locally instead of importing gas.” Ended / 25 h
