[rtl]Baghdad / NINA / Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani stressed: “The scourge of corruption is no different from terrorism and must be fought.”
Al-Sudani said during his opening of the first forum of governorate councils, which is held in cooperation with the Integrity Commission and the Supreme Commission for Coordination between the governorates: “Terrorism no longer represents a threat to the state, while corruption constitutes a rift in the credibility of the work of state agencies,” indicating: “Fighting corruption is not impossible.” “By adopting practical steps based on the law, successful tools and experience in decision-making.”
The Prime Minister explained: “Disrupting business is a form of corruption and wasting money, and there are many projects suspended under the pretext of auditing, and councils must be supported within the framework of implementing the national strategy for integrity and anti-corruption, as well as proactive work against corruption,” noting: “Preventing corruption is important.” It represents a source of strength that adds to the citizen’s confidence in and support for government agencies as they provide services.”
He continued: “Implementing the law correctly enhances the work of the councils, and through it our people will measure the seriousness of those involved in public service and their good performance,” noting: “Responding to the requirements of the effective Financial Supervision Bureau law, the Integrity and Illicit Gain Commission law, the requirements for disclosing financial liabilities, and the laws “Otherwise, it will facilitate the task of combating corruption.”
He stressed the importance of supporting the supervisory, legislative and policy-making roles of the governorate councils, to ensure an environment that limits corruption, and the implementation of the priorities of the Supreme Commission for Coordination between the governorates, in supporting digital transformation, improving services, monitoring service institutions, continuous evaluation of performance, and being precise in work. Following instructions does not mean hesitation in making the right decision, and strictly applying the law to the corrupt does not mean injustice.
He concluded by saying: “Citizens throughout Iraq expect a lot from us, and we must not waste any opportunity to work, and let the reports of the regulatory authorities be the standard in evaluating responsibility and performance, and in nominating officials for tasks, or removing them.”/ End 2[/rtl]
