    The General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers announced today, Tuesday (July 9, 2024), the imminent completion of 335 schools within the Chinese agreement, while indicating that the government is keen to end the double shift file.
    The Secretariat's spokesman, Haider Majeed, said in an interview with "Baghdad Today", "There are 665 schools remaining from the Iraqi-Chinese agreement, and work is underway to complete them at a high pace, as it was directed that the work be in two or three batches, which are expected to be completed in January of next year," noting that "the coming period will witness the completion of 335 schools consisting of 12 classes, 18 classes, and 24 classes."
    He added that "the government is keen to end the double shift file, especially the triple shift, and the mud and caravan schools, and thus the completion of these schools will be a positive gateway to proceed with supporting the educational reality in Iraq when the thousand schools are fully received," revealing "the formation of a committee through which the public and private sectors will be invited to compete to proceed with furnishing the completed schools first, and then also furnishing the schools that will be completed later."
    At the end of last April, the government media team announced the completion of 250 schools within the first phase of the school buildings project according to the agreement with China, indicating that the school buildings project is the first project of the agreement between Iraq and China, and is also the first in terms of designs and areas, and is one of the most important files and priorities of the government in the government program.
