President of the Republic to UN team: Importance of investigating genocide crimes of former regime

{Politics: Al Furat News} President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, received today, Wednesday, at the Baghdad Palace, a delegation from the United Nations Investigation Team for ISIS Crimes (UNITAD), headed by Ana Piro Llopis.
The President of the Republic, according to a presidential statement received by {Euphrates News}, appreciated "the role played by the investigation team in ensuring accountability for the crimes that affected the Iraqi people, stressing the need to strengthen coordination paths with the Iraqi government and complete the archiving and documentation of evidence, materials and analyses related to those crimes, and stressing the importance of investigating the crimes of genocide that occurred during the rule of the former regime, such as Anfal, Halabja and mass graves, and not allowing them to lapse by statute of limitations."
For his part, the delegation reviewed the team's work progress, the efforts made to document the crimes of genocide, and the importance of working with Iraqi legal experts to enable them to collect information and evidence about all the crimes committed against the Iraqi people.
