[size=45]The Strategic Center for Human Rights confirmed that Iraq needs 4 million housing units by 2027.[/size]
[size=45]The head of the center, Fadhel Al-Gharawi, said in a statement that “Baghdad Governorate ranked first in the index of housing unit deficit compared to the population ratio at 31%, followed by Nineveh Governorate at 28% and Basra Governorate at 10%.”[/size]
[size=45]He added, "The housing deficit rate of housing units for the years 2023-2024 amounted to 26% of the total population of Iraq, which is 45 million, according to statistics from the Ministry of Planning."[/size]
[size=45]Al-Gharawi continued, “The rate of home ownership in Iraq has reached about 74 percent, meaning that 26 percent or more than a quarter of Iraqis live in rentals or in informal units.”[/size]
[size=45]He pointed out that "the need for housing units in urban areas will increase by 3% annually until 2030, and according to this indicator, Iraq needs four million housing units by 2027."[/size]
[size=45]Al-Gharawi called on the government to “launch the national housing initiative and distribute residential plots in all governorates, along with the interest-free housing loan initiative and establish residential cities to address the large deficit in the percentage of housing units.”[/size]
