    [rtl]Baghdad - Iraq today:[/rtl]
[rtl]Member of the Coordination Framework, Imran Karkush, commented on the appointment of Muhammad Al-Hassan from the Sultanate of Oman as Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI).

Karkush said in an interview, “We welcome this step, which reflects an international understanding of the situation in Iraq, and the building of a good, balanced, and non-provocative relationship with the United Nations.”

He believed that "the presence of an Arab figure in this position restores hope for greater positive interaction between the two parties."

Earlier, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, announced the appointment of Mohammed Al-Hassan from the Sultanate of Oman as head of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), as a replacement for Jeanine Plasschaert.

Al-Hassan brings to the position a broad range of diplomatic experience with a career spanning more than thirty years in the field of preventive diplomacy, peacebuilding and development.[/rtl]
