    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
Political researcher Muhammad Ali Al-Hakim confirmed, today, Monday (July 22, 2024), that there is concern in Iraq about Trump’s return to the White House during the next stage.
Al-Hakim said in an interview with Baghdad Today, "Trump is known for his hardline positions against Iran and Iran's allies in Iraq and the region in general. After Biden's withdrawal from the US presidential election race, Trump's chance of returning to the White House has become almost certain, and this is what constitutes great concern for the Iraqi parties currently ruling Iraq, for fear that he will take decisions against them because they are close and supported in one way or another by Tehran."
He explained that "Trump's return to the White House means no final US withdrawal from Iraq, and US policy may change towards Iraq, which is why those who currently rule Iraq are concerned about Trump's return, noting that Biden's withdrawal will change the scene in the region and the world during the next stage."
US President Joe Biden said yesterday, Sunday (July 21, 2024), that he had decided to withdraw from running for the US presidential election scheduled for November 5, and announced his support for his Vice President Kamala Harris to succeed him in the race for the White House.
Reuters reported that Kamala Harris's campaign officials and allies have made hundreds of calls urging attendees at next month's party convention to support her candidacy to run for president in November against Republican candidate Donald Trump.
The American newspaper "The Hill" reported that Kamala Harris, Vice President of the United States, Joe Biden, received the support of about 531 Democratic delegates to run for the presidential race after the president's withdrawal.
She explained that all delegates from Tennessee, Florida, New Hampshire, Louisiana, North Carolina and South Carolina have confirmed their support for Harris.
Harris needs the support of at least 1,986 of the roughly 4,000 Democratic delegates to secure the party's nomination.
The American elections witness two types of electoral delegates: delegates from each party who choose their candidate to represent them in the primary elections, and delegates who choose the President of the Republic from among the candidates of the different parties.
Former US President Donald Trump considered, yesterday, Sunday, that the current President, Joe Biden, is "the worst president ever in the history of our country," minutes after the latter announced his withdrawal from the 2024 presidential elections.
In a phone call with CNN, Trump said he believes defeating Vice President Kamala Harris would be easier than defeating Biden, even though Democrats have not yet officially announced their new nominee, although Biden has expressed his support for her to run for president.
