    Economy News - Baghdad
Today, Thursday, Oil Minister Hayan Abdul Ghani inaugurated the gas processing and compression units in the East Baghdad field, while confirming that this came after a 15-year hiatus.
Abdul Ghani said in an interview with the Iraqi News Agency, followed by "Al-Iqtisad News", on the sidelines of the opening: "The gas compressors were purchased, but the Central Oil Company was unable to install them at that time. These compressors remained in their locations, and many specialized companies were unable to operate them."
He added, "The staff of the Central Oil Company was able to rehabilitate these compressors and intervene in their operation after they had been stopped for 15 years," stressing "the use of gas and its conversion into clean energy and the provision of fuel to power stations."
He added, "Once the gas is transferred to these compressors, it is pumped through specialized pipes to the power stations."
