Shafaq News/ The Iraqi Integrity Commission announced on Monday that it had received from the UAE a former official in the Ministry of Health convicted of 12 cases, including squandering public funds and violating job duties, indicating that the total prison sentences issued against the convict amount to 28 years.
The Integrity Media said in a statement that the intensive efforts made by the Recovery Department in cooperation with the Arab and International Police Directorate in the Ministry of Interior and the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Justice and Public Prosecution led to the handover to the authorities in the United Arab Emirates of the fugitive convict, the former Director General of the Health Department of Babylon Governorate (Nouris Abdul Razzaq Abdul Shahid), against whom an international red notice and a search radio were issued, following the recovery files organized by the department.
He pointed out that the convict had been sentenced in absentia to (12) severe imprisonment and imprisonment by the Hillah Misdemeanor Courts, Karkh Felonies Courts, and Rusafa Misdemeanor Courts while he held the position of Director General of the Babylon Health Department and his management of the Al-Imamain Al-Kadhimiya Hospital, noting that the sentences were issued based on the provisions of Articles (331 and 340) of the Penal Code, and their total amounted to nearly (28) years.
He added that among the lawsuits and files against the convict are the violations committed by appointing (700) job grades, reappointing (137) grades, and appointing (150) grades based on the movement of the staff outside the (700) grades, in violation of the instructions and controls, and causing harm to the funds and interests of the entity in which he works by contracting with a printing press to provide the department with records, receipts and publications, and proving the existence of exaggeration in (37) prepared materials.
He added that among the violations committed, for which he was convicted, was raising the bills for the Jordanian company implementing the "hemodialysis" project to more than (6,000,000) six million US dollars, despite its delay in implementing the contract clauses, and his approval to purchase (CRRT) devices without requesting a need, contrary to the terms of the contract, in addition to his approval to purchase liquid oxygen from private laboratories at exaggerated prices, despite the existence of offers from a government company to supply at appropriate prices.
On February 23 of last year, the Authority announced that the General Department of the Federal Criminal Police in the United Arab Emirates had arrested the fugitive convict, the former Director General of the Health Department of Babylon Governorate, based on the issuance of an international red notice and a search warrant issued against him, and the extradition files organized by the Extradition Department, due to the existence of criminal cases in which he is accused.
