    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
The project manager at Faw Port, Raed Ali Al-Sharifi, revealed today, Tuesday (August 13, 2024), the date for the delivery of the five berths, to be the first completed infrastructure projects.
Al-Sharifi said in press statements, followed by "Baghdad Today", that "the staff of the Grand Faw Port Authority is still continuing with high performance and intensifying efforts, despite the harsh weather and environmental conditions of the sea, in implementation of its commitments to continue establishing the strategic project, the Grand Faw Port."
He added, "The focus is currently on the works of Contract No. 6 for the construction of the five container berths, which are nearing completion and completion of work on the berths, noting that after the completion of the project, the procedures for handing over the five berths will begin next October, to be the first infrastructure projects for the port of Faw."
Al-Sharifi stressed that “this project will be completed according to specifications that match existing ports, whether in Arab or international countries,” expecting that “the Grand Faw Port will be the largest port in the Middle East, and includes two phases, the first of which includes refining operations, and the second includes building a petrochemical complex with a capacity of 3 million tons annually, in addition to a station with a capacity of 2,000 megawatts.”
It is noteworthy that the General Company for Iraqi Ports revealed on Wednesday (May 29, 2024) the completion of 94% of the Grand Faw Project docks, while indicating that the date for receiving all docks in the project will be at the end of this year.
The company's general manager, Farhan Al-Fartousi, said in an interview with "Baghdad Today", "The submerged tunnel in the port will be completed in four days," indicating that "the container yard will be completed infilling at the end of this year, while the road inside the port can be walked on within a few months."
He added that "the four docks have been completed and there is not much left to complete all the docks except covering the slopes with stone in addition to connecting the docks to the container yard through bridges, explaining that "the completion rate has reached 94% and it will be received in October of this year."
Al-Fartousi said, "The container yard has reached about 75% completion, while the road linking Al-Faw Port and Umm Qasr area, which is 51 km long, has reached 41 km of paving work for the first layer."
He pointed out that "we promised the Prime Minister that the paving would be completed by November, as it is of great importance and is the first section of the development road," indicating that "the completion rate of the bridges has reached about 80 percent for the first and second bridges, and the completion rates have reached advanced stages."
