    The head of the Integrity Commission, Judge Haider Hanoun, stated today, Tuesday, that Iraq has advanced four ranks in the classification of the most corrupt countries in the world, calling for regional and international cooperation to draw up integrity strategies and combat corruption.
    Judge Hanoun said in a speech during the Arab Forum for Promoting Transparency and Good Governance held in Baghdad, "The Corruption Perceptions Index report issued by Transparency International for the year 2023 was studied in all its aspects, which showed Iraq on the Corruption Perceptions Index."
    He stressed that, "Iraq ranked seventh in the Arab world and 153rd globally out of 180 countries included in the organization's list after obtaining a score of 23 out of 100," adding that "Iraq advanced four places in the ranking after it was ranked 157th in 2022."
    Iraq ranked 157th globally out of 180 countries in the Corruption Perceptions Index issued by Transparency International in 2021, confirming that the country suffers from a worsening problem without the organization specifying accurate figures for the extent of corruption in the country.
    In his speech, Judge Hanoun praised the “great cooperation” with Transparency International, pledging to “take scientific steps to improve Iraq’s ranking in the Corruption Perceptions Report it issues.”
    He continued by saying: The Republic of Iraq has complied with the provisions of international and regional agreements to combat corruption, and we hope for further cooperation from them.
