    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein arrived in the Turkish capital, Ankara, today, Wednesday, August 14, 2024.
Hussein said in a tweet on the (X) platform: “We arrived in the capital, Ankara, to hold a number of important meetings, including a meeting with our friend, the Turkish Foreign Minister.”
He said, "We will discuss a number of issues of common interest, most notably the security aspect and combating terrorism, in addition to enhancing cooperation and coordination in the interest of our two countries."
Reuters revealed in a report published today, Wednesday, the details of the discussions that an Iraqi delegation that arrived in Turkey will hold with the government of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, regarding the implementation of the agreements signed during his recent visit to Baghdad and the file of the Turkish military presence inside Iraq.
The agency said, according to what was translated by "Baghdad Today", that a Turkish diplomatic source confirmed to it that the talks will include a Turkish condition that the Iraqi government declare the Kurdistan Workers' Party a "terrorist organization", in addition to negotiating the implementation of the agreements signed between the two countries and establishing a "joint military planning room" to manage Turkish movements inside the country.
The Turkish diplomat, who refused to reveal his identity to the agency, explained that the Ankara government "expects" the Iraqi government to "declare the Kurdistan Workers' Party a terrorist organization as soon as possible," noting that the discussions about the Turkish presence in Iraq will be linked to "Baghdad's decision" about the party's presence.
