How do we activate the tourism sector in Iraq?

Over the past years, Iraq has not benefited from thousands of religious, archaeological and recreational sites spread across the governorates, as the tourism sector has not provided the general budgets with any significant funds.
In the midst of this, economic experts called for regulating the tourism sector, as the country is unique among other countries in the world in possessing all types of tourism, calling for openness towards specialized companies.
Tourism specialist Hassan Al-Saadoun explained in an interview with “Al-Sabah” that Iraq is unique among other countries in the tourism sector in possessing all types of tourism in various regions of the country, and from here we have a unique human attraction element, but such a matter requires a precise strategy that regulates the tourism sector and gives each detail the required attention.
Al-Saadoun added that the country's possession of religious, cultural, "archaeological", recreational and medical tourism requires it to work on finding mechanisms that will advance the tourism sector and lead it to achieve real and sustainable benefit and actual diversity of the country's financial revenues, as the country has 7 civilizations that represented the basis for organizing human life through laws and regulations that organized life thousands of years ago, in addition to religious tourism, which is now known to everyone, as well as medical tourism in the city of Mosul, which is visited by thousands annually despite the lack of interest, while recreational tourism sites are spread from the south to the far north.
Tourism specialist Muhammad Ali said: Organizing tourism work in Iraq begins from within, by not allowing unlicensed companies to operate and confusing the mechanisms for organizing this sector so that it can be a real starting point for sustainable development in Iraq, benefiting from Iraq's possession of the components of the real development that we seek.
Ali pointed out that activating the tourism sector in Iraq requires openness to international companies specialized in tourism and establishing legal business partnerships that benefit Iraq and the countries of the world, especially since Iraq has tourist sites that interest billions of people around the world.
The economic expert, Engineer Hadi Handas, explained the necessity of working to invest in the tourism sector to support the state's general budget.
He said in an interview with "Al-Sabah" that the country has many tourist sites in various joints that have not been optimally invested, and some of them are far from being fully invested despite having tourist attractions.
He added that the country is distinguished by having all types of tourism, which is not available in any country in the world, as religious tourism is available in the country on a large scale, which is visited by visitors from most destinations in the world, in addition to archaeological tourism and the civilization of Mesopotamia, which can attract international tourists, in addition to recreational tourism that extends from south to north and from east to west, as well as natural tourism that treats several diseases.
Handas pointed out the need for an effective strategy to regulate the tourism sector, which is a permanent, inexhaustible oil.
