Iraqi calls to take caution with mobile communication devices

Information/Report..
The security breach by blowing up pagers in Lebanon raised many questions about the immunity of personal mobile devices and the possibility of blowing them up remotely.

This concern was raised in a number of countries, including Iraq, whose elite specialists and politicians called for fortifying the country against these breaches, one example of which was what happened in Lebanon when the Zionist entity blew up pagers in the most dangerous terrorist operation.
The pager is easy to use due to its small size (approximately 6 x 3 cm). The device is used for wireless calling by receiving a signal from a transmitter when someone sends a message. This message is converted into a radio signal that can be received by the pager.
Mobile device batteries are made of highly flammable chemicals, but there is a control unit directly connected to the battery and built into it special software to maintain its safety and ensure its physical and chemical properties.

Specialists inside Iraq called for taking precautions and re-evaluating personal communication systems such as mobile phones or devices related to communications of all kinds.
This is what security expert Haitham Al-Khazaali urged the government to do, by reviewing and evaluating the communications system to avoid repeating what happened in Lebanon.
Al-Khazaali told Al-Maalouma Agency, "The cyber operation carried out by the Zionist enemy to blow up the pager and hockey talkie devices in Lebanon must require taking precautions and caution to avoid repeating it in Iraq."
He pointed out that "our security forces and the Popular Mobilization Forces represent targets for the Zionist entity, so the precautionary system must be strengthened to prevent this from happening in Iraq."
He added, "Preventing the recurrence of such criminal acts in Iraq requires taking quick and urgent measures by the National Security Council, including a comprehensive review of the communications systems and examining them before they are circulated."

He also stressed the need to "take decisions not to import electronic devices of all kinds through intermediaries and contracts are made with parent companies, and to prevent imports from Western companies that have a relationship with the Zionist entity to avoid a recurrence of the pager incident."
“These explosions required small explosive devices to be implanted in these devices, and they were activated by ‘malware’ that contributed to the detonation of these explosives,” said Toby Walsh, professor of artificial intelligence at the University of New South Wales’ Department of Computer Science and Engineering.
Regarding the possibility of hacking smartphones, Walsh says that just as pagers were hacked, smartphones can be hacked, but blowing up these phones will often require planting small explosives inside them.
Immediately after the pager devices were blown up in Lebanon, the federal government directed that the necessary and preventive measures be taken, including security checks on imported electronic devices. It stressed that border crossings should take the necessary and preventive measures to avoid any possible breach. Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani directed the need for security checks on imports, and intensively with regard to electronic devices before contracting and dealing with solid companies before the import process.
