Tourism Authority: Establishing the largest (boulevard) on Baghdad Island

The Tourism Authority affiliated with the Ministry of Culture revealed a project to establish the largest boulevard on the Baghdad Tourist Island, at a time when the largest five-star hotel in Karbala has reached advanced stages.
The head of the authority, Nasser Ghanem Murad, told Al-Sabah: Tourism is one of the most important aspects that the country enjoys, including religious tourism, due to the presence of holy shrines for various religions and sects.
He added that the Authority worked to support the private sector by facilitating the procedures for establishing modern tourist facilities, as well as granting entry visas to visitors and tourists in coordination with the Ministry of Interior.
Murad pointed out that the construction of the largest five-star hotel and tourist complex affiliated with the authority in the holy city of Karbala has reached 70 percent, as it is an icon of tourism in the city and its implementation cost is more than 100 million dollars and includes a commercial center, a multi-storey garage and a complex with integrated services, as it is expected to be completed within the next two years due to the addition of other complementary areas to the project by the governorate.
He added that there is a large investment project being implemented on Baghdad Tourist Island by an investment company to become the largest boulevard in the capital, and includes the largest water and entertainment city for games, restaurants and many other services.
Murad pointed out that the authority called on companies to invest in its lands in the holy city of Najaf by establishing an integrated tourist complex that includes a group of large, modern, and advanced five-star hotels to resemble the project of the holy city of Karbala.
He stated that the Authority worked on developing all tourist sites through investment, as some of them were transferred to the Investment Authority to obtain a license to establish large projects in the Nineveh and Babylon governorates, in addition to announcing other opportunities in cooperation with investment authorities in the governorates.
He pointed out the Authority's contribution as a mixed sector in Baghdad and the governorates by referring the Ishtar Sheraton, Al Rashid, Palestine Meridian, Baghdad, Babylon, Mansour Melia and Al Sudair hotels for investment to international companies and the private sector to advance the service sector.
