[rtl]Baghdad / NINA / The Parliamentary Legal Committee confirmed that there is no specific time to approve the draft law on general amnesty and amending the Personal Status Law.
The deputy head of the committee, Mohammed Anouz, said in a statement to the National Iraqi News Agency ( NINA ): "After the second reading of the two draft laws, intensive meetings have now begun by the relevant committees with the judiciary, clerics, political blocs, and representatives, and their proposals to mature the two laws and fill the gaps in them, in order to approve them," noting that there is no time limit for that.
Anouz added: "If the political blocs want to pass them quickly, there will be flaws and problems, but delay, deliberation, and completing their requirements is better for everyone."
He pointed out that the delay in electing a new parliament speaker will not affect the approval of important laws, as there are two deputies who can do their job according to the law.
Last Monday, the House of Representatives concluded the discussion (second reading) of the proposed amendment to the General Amnesty Law No. 27 of 2016, and the second reading “report and discussion” of the proposed amendment to the Personal Status Law No. 188 of 1959, Articles 2 and 10 thereof. /End9[/rtl]
