Minister of Construction, Housing, Municipalities and Public Works, Benkin Rikani, confirmed today, Monday, that the amounts allocated for governorate projects are 4 times more than the Baghdad congestion relief projects.
The Minister of Reconstruction said in a statement received by Al-Maalouma Agency, "The number of projects to relieve congestion in the city of Baghdad is 18, including 6 tunnels, 41 bridges, and 5 bridges crossing the Tigris River, with a total contract value of (1,866,871,815,600) trillion, and the actual expenditure on these projects is (786,023,188,967) billion."
He added that "the ministry's project contracts for the years (2023-2024) in the governorates amounted to (2,844,858,911,000) trillion dinars, and the actual expenditure amounted to (721,200,000,000) billion."
He stressed that "there are infrastructure projects for the ministry in all governorates under implementation in our ministry and the ministries of finance and planning, with a value exceeding 3.5 trillion dinars, a large part of which will be transferred this year."
He added, "Thus, the amounts allocated for the governorates' projects are approximately 4 times more than the amounts allocated for the traffic congestion relief projects in Baghdad, which were a truly urgent need and our ministry was honored to implement." End/25
