The Integrity Committee in the House of Representatives revealed that the law on recovering corruption proceeds is ready after completing its discussion by the Integrity Commission, and it is currently being considered by the Parliament Presidency to determine the date for its inclusion in one of its sessions.

Hadi Al-Salami, a member of the Integrity Committee, stated that “the committee is continuing to follow up on a package of laws related to combating corruption and squandering public money,” noting that “among these important laws are the Iraqi Penal Code No. 111 of 1969, the Integrity Law, the Financial Control Law, and the Public Prosecution Law, in addition to other laws aimed at combating illicit gains.”

Al-Salami added that "the current system of laws is an effective tool in combating corruption, but certain amendments may be necessary to ensure its optimal implementation," according to the official Al-Sabah newspaper.

The MP continued, "The Integrity Commission Law, for example, needs to be amended to remove the obstacles facing the commission during its work, and these amendments are submitted by the Integrity Commission based on field experiences and challenges that hinder the workflow."

Al-Salami explained that "Parliament periodically receives requests to amend laws from oversight bodies, in line with the public interest and to enhance the performance of these bodies in combating corruption," stressing that "the committee continues to host ministers and officials affiliated with the relevant ministries, with the aim of discussing the challenges they face in implementing anti-corruption policies and ensuring effective oversight of public funds."
