[ltr][You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]BAGHDAD - Iraq Press -18 March / March: calledon former Iraqi Prime Minister and leader of theNational Coalition, Dr. Iyad Allawi, on Thursday evening, to convene an emergency meeting of all political parties, to ease the tensions.
Allawi said in a statement, said that "the presidentof the republic call for a rapid meeting of all Iraqi parties to reduce tensions, and to respond to callsfor real reform, and the preservation of peaceful protests."
He emphasized his support for " the demands of theprotesters and demonstrators, and all the goals that serve the interests of Iraq and its people , " callingon "all parties to exercise restraint, and adopt dialogue, and be patient."
For his part, the Supreme Council headed by Ammar al - Hakim, called for the convening of " an urgent meeting" of the forcesof the National Alliance, aimed at finding a "quick solutions to the threat to national cohesion," he said.
The Council stressed in a statement, that " the claim reforms have become a legitimate and popularly .. and introduced by thegovernment so far does not amount to the demands of the public , " stressing the importance of "dealing with the reforms commensurate with their importance and consistent with the necessity and urgency."
The statement stressed " the need for the survival of the demonstrations in the proper legal framework and tracks required , " and urged the security services to "sponsor the rights of citizens and public interests and maintain these practices."
