Oil prices steadied on Thursday after mixed signals in the market such as the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries meeting (OPEC) in Vienna, which analysts said it is expected to result in a cap on crude production.
By 0657 GMT, it was trading the global London Brent crude futures at $ 49.75 a barrel, up three cents from the last settlement. It fell WTI futures six cents to $ 48.95 a barrel.
OPEC meeting has seen on Thursday in the Austrian capital Vienna another confrontation between Saudi Arabia and Iran, where Riyadh is trying to revive a coordinated act or agreement on a formal ceiling for oil production, but Tehran refuses to cooperate.
In spite of the increased production in the OPEC members in the Middle East under the overall productivity of the organization largely stable in the current year and currently it stands at 32.5 million barrels per day of production because of the turmoil in countries including Nigeria, Libya and Venezuela.
Because of the disruption of production in other regions of oil-producing countries in the Middle East do not see sufficient reason to determine the level of production where the overall situation in the market is clearly improved for them in the current year.
