What to worry about/what not to

Any hope the Hawks had of winning the 2017-18 NHL President's Trophy pretty much evaporated yesterday in a 3-2 loss to the Bruins. File that under: "not worth worrying about."

In fact, with home ice through the Western Conference playoffs sewn up and just three games left in the regular season, the emphasis should be less on games and points, and more on simply playing well, with confidence, up and down the ice.

The Hawks probably played well enough to win yesterday, but failed to convert despite outshooting the highly motivated Bruins by a wide margin. It was a forgettable game, perhaps most meaningful because it was the Hawks' final home game of the season. So you tip your cap to B's backup netminder Anton Khudobin, and move along.

Specifically, move West, with a 3-game roadie to end the year in Colorado, Anaheim and LA.

If you're the Hawks, you want to come home with Corey Crawford dialed in, some balance on your forward lines, the right psychology going into the playoffs—and a healthy Artem Anisimov, who is supposed to begin skating today.

It goes without saying, also, that you want the key cogs that drive the engine in the playoffs healthy as well—Keith, Seabrook, Hjalmarsson, Oduya, Toews, Kane, Panarin, Hossa. So it remains to be seen who dresses and how many minutes they play over the last handful of regular season games.

I'll have a Colorado preview tomorrow.
