    Iraqi lawmakers approve law banning three terms for PM 26/01/2013

    BAGHDAD, Jan 26 (KUNA) -- The Iraqi parliament has approved a draft law aimed at preventing a third term in office for the prime minister, which would not allow the incumbent Nouri Al-Maliki to run for the post ever again.

    The parliament also earlier voted by overwhelming majority in favour of two terms for each of the president and parliament speaker, Iraqi lawmaker Amir Al-Kanani told KUNA.

    The voting was carried out in spite of Nuri Al-Maliki's State of Law Coalition party's complete rejection and boycotting of the law.

    The State of Law Coalition has branded the law unconstitutional and has said that it would be referring the matter to the country's federal supreme court.
