The source told the newspaper that "the government discussed ways to deliver the private sector management of the port in the future according to the system. "

The ministerial source said that "the government has a serious interest in the privatization of Kuwait Ports Authority in order to develop their work, and that the privatization of the port of Mubarak is the beginning of which will be launched by the government to privatize the rest of the ports."

The Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sabah Khaled Al-Sabah said during a visit to the capital Baghdad as part of a ministerial delegation on 12 June last year in a joint press conference with Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari said "Port Mubarak of Kuwait is a port of complementary and not competitive, the region needs more than one port, noting that "Kuwait is ready to cooperate with Iraq in all respects, especially in the transport sector land, sea and air and the rest of the other sectors."

A few days after the visit of the Kuwaiti delegation to Baghdad, said Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait Khaled Al-Jarallah on 16 June last, "did not we address the issue of the port of Mubarak in the visit of the Kuwaiti delegation to Iraq, and that the port is going according to plans drawn to him and there is no new, and we hope soon to work in the port of Mubarak , the reception of ships, spin the wheel in a very dynamic port, which will not be in the interest of Kuwait only, but also for the benefit of Iraq. "

And witnessed the official relations between Iraq and Kuwait described the positive development during the past few months, to end the outstanding issues between the two countries, especially after the withdrawal of Iraq from international sanctions imposed on it in the seventh item, by the UN Security Council.
