The Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) on Monday decided to refer the settlement file to the International Criminal Court in The Hague, with an urgent call to open a judicial investigation as a "war crime" and "ethnic cleansing".

In a meeting chaired by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah, the committee warned the Israeli government of its continued disregard for international law and criticized the international community's continuing "double standards" policy in dealing with international law and international legitimacy when it comes to Israel.

"The international community, especially the United Nations, can not continue the policy of double standards in dealing with international law and resolutions of international legitimacy, as long as it is related to the State of Israel," the committee said.

The Committee stressed its adherence to international law and international legitimacy resolutions as the sole basis for a comprehensive and balanced political settlement of the conflict with Israel, which provides security and stability for all and protects the rights of Palestinian refugees.

The Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization called upon the United Nations to assume its responsibilities with regard to the international protection of the Palestinian people.
