Abadi gives the province 72 hours .. Barzani calls to read the referendum message quietly

     Baghdad / Range

Prime Minister Haider Abadi, on Tuesday, rejected the results of the referendum held by the Kurdistan region on Monday, and gave the territorial government three days to hand over border crossings and airports to the federal authority, while called on the President of the region Massoud Barzani to read the referendum message calmly. "The leaders of the Kurdistan region have not listened to the domestic, international and regional appeals about the holding of the unconstitutional referendum," Abadi said during a weekly press conference. "Baghdad will not negotiate the results of the referendum."
Abadi added that "the federal government will impose its authority on the Kurdistan region by the Constitution," saying that "we will not give up the unity of Iraq and sovereignty.
The Prime Minister pointed out that "the Council of Ministers, taken a number of decisions during its meeting in response to the referendum, include the prohibition of international flights to and from the Kurdistan region in the event that the airports and border crossings in the region are not subject to the authority of the central government within 3 days.
The Prime Minister said that "the decisions include closing the official and non-official ports of the Kurdistan region with neighboring countries," pointing out at the same time that "the actions taken by the federal authority will not affect the dignity of citizens, especially the people of the Kurdistan region."
The Prime Minister stressed that "oil resources must return to the federal budget for the purpose of providing salaries for all employees, including the Kurds." For his part, renewed the President of the Kurdistan region, Massoud Barzani, his call to continue serious and rational dialogue on the question of the referendum.
Barzani said in a televised speech that "Erbil has done everything it can for the past period, but Baghdad has not committed itself to the region, which has forced us to go to the referendum."
He called Barzani, the message of the people of Kurdistan rationally, and called on the Baghdad government, regional states and the international community to "read the referendum message calmly, taking into account the legitimate rights of the Kurdistan region."
