    BAGHDAD (Reuters) -
The report shed light on the damaged infrastructure of the border towns with Yemen and the displacement of Saudi citizens from them for fear of attacks by the Huthis, a US newspaper reported.
The report said that "gas masks left by Saudi soldiers scattered amid rusty debris at a military point on the border with Yemen destroyed by a shell, to be a clear witness to more than two years of the war against the Houthis," noting that "this military point located in Khouba, a deserted village Surrounded by barren mountains, is one of several bases for border guards targeted by the Houthis since the international alliance led by Saudi Arabia began military intervention in Yemen in 2015. "
The report said that "although the incursions and rocket attacks by the Huthis did not undermine the control of Saudi Arabia on its vast border, it highlighted the repercussions of the conflict in Yemen on the Saudi side of the border, where several villages like Khouba, threatened.
"The border guards managed, together with the armed forces, to exercise full control and ensure the protection of our citizens," the report quoted Colonel Mohammed al-Hamid as saying during a rare tour of the destroyed base.
"The site shows traces of a confrontation that took place nearby. The burning walls appear to be shrapnel, while the metal roof is filled with bullet holes and shells, while a cat is walking behind a hill of shattered furniture," the report said.
"The gas masks were purchased for fear of a possible chemical attack," the Saudi colonel said, while the base on the border was described as the spearhead in the confrontation as it was completely exposed to the mountainous Huthis positions on the other side, Strategy.
"The Huthis, who look familiar to the rugged terrain of the region, have launched several cross-border attacks to respond to the air strikes carried out by the Saudi army against their positions in Yemen," the report said.
