[ltr]Ali Akbar Velayati, a member of the Expediency Discernment Council of the Islamic Republic of Iran, said Wednesday that the Americans were defeated in Syria and Iraq and that their defeat will continue, while the recent victories of the Iraqi government preserve national sovereignty in all territories.[/ltr]

[ltr]Tensions between the governments of Baghdad and Arbil increased after the president of the outgoing province Massoud Barzani held the results of the unconstitutional Kurdistan referendum and sought to annex Kirkuk to the region.
