The Federal Integrity Commission announced today, Saturday, the arrest of 9 suspects, including the head and members of the initial and final acceptance committees, the head and members of the resident engineer department, and the authorized director of a contracting company in Kirkuk, on the background of the waste of public money in one of the projects implemented in the governorate. The
Media and Government Communications Office of the Commission stated, according to a statement received by Mawazine News, that "the audit and investigation work carried out by the Kirkuk Investigation Office team that moved to the Kirkuk Municipality Directorate resulted in the arrest of five engineers and surveyors, namely: the head and members of the initial and final acceptance committees for the project to open the path of the bank street to the "Al-Khasa River" from the Granada Bridge to the Fourth Bridge."
He added that "the defendants supported the implementation of the project according to the technical specifications, contrary to the reality, as the burial works for the project consisted of rubble and not of the material specified in the report; which represents a serious defect in the implementation of the project, according to the confirmation of the expert committee composed of specialized engineers in the North Oil Company."
According to the statement, three defendants were arrested during the operation, namely the head and members of the resident engineer's department, in addition to the authorized manager of the company implementing the project, which cost (2,148,160,000) two billion dinars, who was referred by the Government Contracts Department in the Kirkuk Governorate Diwan.
He pointed out that the judge of the Kirkuk Investigation Court specialized in examining integrity cases decided to arrest the head and members of the initial and final receiving committees and the authorized manager of the contracting company, based on the provisions of Article (340) of the Penal Code.
