Romania: We look forward to raising the volume of trade with Iraq to 200 million dollars
Romanian Minister of Business and Trade Ilan Laufer said during a meeting with
Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari that his country is looking forward to raising the volume of trade exchange with Iraq to 200 million dollars by the end of this year.
"Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari met Romanian Minister of Business and Trade Ilan Laufer in the capital Bucharest. The meeting discussed the investment environment between the two countries in various fields, including energy, agriculture, trade and others," the foreign ministry said in a statement.
"We are keen on the continuation and growth of economic relations with Romania, and today Iraq has become a good investment environment," Jaafari said, calling for "the importance of the Romanian companies to play a greater role, work and investment in Iraq, the signing of memorandums of understanding in the context of supporting trade exchange, In implementing projects ".
He added that "the volume of trade exchange 131 million dollars, and we hope to raise it to a larger size," stressing that "the need to resume the Iraqi-Romanian Joint Committee meetings in the beginning of practical steps to activate bilateral relations between the two countries in various fields."
For his part, said the Romanian Minister of Business and Trade "readiness to contribute to the reconstruction of Iraq," expressing "his country's desire to sign memorandums of understanding to strengthen cooperation between the two sides."
He pointed out "the importance of cooperation between the ministries of energy Romanian and Iraqi oil," revealing "Bucharest aspiration to increase the volume of trade with Iraq to 200 million dollars by the end of this year."
