On Thursday, the member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Ghiath Al-Surji, ruled out the possibility of an Iraqi military intervention to stop the Turkish violations and incursions in northern Iraq, pointing out that there are a number of reasons that push Iraq not to intervene in the file of Turkish violations.

Al-Surji told Al-Maalouma, "There are several factors and reasons behind the weakness of the Iraqi government towards the Turkish side and the continuous violations and incursions of Turkish forces in the north of the country."
He added, "The Iraqi security and military system, despite its capabilities, capacities and achievements on the ground, is not able to confront the Turkish army, which belongs to NATO, which is what leads to not entering into a confrontation with the Turks."
He pointed out that "there are economic, political and security conditions that Iraq is experiencing, which have caused the weakness of the Iraqi position towards the Turkish incursions and violations in Iraqi territory." End 25N
