Minister of Planning Mohammed Ali Tamim confirmed today, Thursday, that there are no obstacles preventing the population census from being conducted and it will be implemented on its scheduled date.
A statement by the ministry, received by /Al-Maalouma/ agency, stated that "Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning, Mohammed Ali Tamim, chaired an important meeting of the Supreme Commission for the Population Census."
Tamim confirmed, according to the statement, that "the general population and housing census will be conducted in all Iraqi governorates on November 20 and 21, and there will be a curfew," indicating that "the general population and housing census will be implemented electronically and will be the last census witnessed by Iraq, because we will be faced with a huge database covering all aspects of life and the characteristics of the population, social and economic."
He pointed out that "the results of the general population and housing census will appear within a few hours with high accuracy and reliability, as a result of the use of modern and advanced technologies in conducting the census," noting: "We have provided (120) thousand tablets from reliable international manufacturers, with high specifications, and they will be used by state institutions after the census is completed."
He pointed out that "there are great efforts being made by ministries and entities not affiliated with a ministry, and governorates to support conducting the general population census," explaining that "the Council of Ministers has taken a package of important decisions in order to provide the best conditions for conducting the population census and ensuring its success."
He stressed that "there are no political obstacles preventing the population census," noting that "there is high-level coordination with the Kurdistan Regional Government regarding conducting the census on its scheduled date of 11-20-2024."
The minister, according to the statement, appreciated "the role of the House of Representatives and the Parliamentary Strategic Planning Committee in supporting the efforts of the Ministry of Planning to conduct the population census," calling for "cooperation with enumerators in the numbering and enumeration phase that began in all governorates on 9/1/2024 and ends on 10/30/2024."
He continued: "We have prepared a special plan to conduct the population census in difficult and remote areas, appreciating the role and efforts of the Ministry of Education in preparing the cadres that conduct the numbering, enumeration and population census operations."
