WASHINGTON (Reuters) - US authorities have evacuated at least 212,000 people because of forest fires and the wind is blowing in southern California, the Federal Emergency Management Agency's representative David Passy said on Saturday.
"The fires have consumed 57,000 hectares and 212,000 people have been evacuated, while 8.7 thousand firefighters are working," the Russian news agency SPOTNK quoted PASSI as saying.
