    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Ahmed Al-Asadi, announced today, Wednesday, July 24, 2024, the launch of the health insurance service for more than 386,000 social protection beneficiaries, noting that "the ministry has begun to include all social protection beneficiaries in health insurance."
Al-Asadi explained in a press conference held today, in the presence of the Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Labor Committee, Hussein Arab, and the Chairman of the Health Insurance Authority, Ali Ahmed Obaid, "386,265 individuals who benefit from social protection have been included in health insurance, and we have launched a social survey to visit about 133,765 individuals for the purpose of completing the procedures for their inclusion in free health insurance."
He pointed out that "the names of those covered will be published on the ministry's website, and they can visit the health insurance branches to receive health books. Early next week, the names of the second phase of those covered by health insurance, numbering 252,500, will be published on the ministry's website for the purpose of reviewing to receive health books."
Al-Asadi added, "There are dozens of private and governmental hospitals and health centers that the Health Insurance Authority has contracted with, and they are waiting for those covered to review."
Regarding updating the annual statement, the Minister of Labor said, "The number of families benefiting from social protection assistance who submitted the annual statement reached 1,836,000 families," calling on "families that have not submitted to quickly complete and update the annual statement by the end of next August."
He explained that "the families' delay in updating the annual statement causes the aid to be cut off from them," calling on all beneficiary families to "review the Social Protection Authority departments to complete the annual statement so that the aid is not cut off from them."
Regarding the student grant, Al-Asadi announced “the launch of the student grant for the children of social protection beneficiaries from university students (bachelor’s and master’s degrees) retroactively for six months.”
He added, "The funding for the student grant, which includes primary, middle, and preparatory school students, for the month of March, has arrived, and it will be disbursed with the social assistance payment for the month of August for approximately 2.3 million students. We will follow up with the Ministry of Finance to disburse the student grant for the remaining five months, and if the funding arrives, we will announce that."
Regarding the “Iraq is My Identity” service, he said that “the number of beneficiaries of the social protection network who issued the national card reached one million and 489 thousand,” calling on “all non-issued beneficiaries to visit the departments and branches of the Social Protection Authority for the purpose of issuing the unified card free of charge for the head of the family and its members.”
In the file of the displaced, the Minister of Labor said, "Yesterday, we announced the names of those returning from displacement camps for the purpose of reviewing the social protection departments and completing the social research procedures for them in preparation for including them in social assistance."
He explained, "The total number of displaced persons who were included in the social protection allowance reached 60,000 families."
Regarding the Ministry of Interior contracts, the Minister of Labor noted that “all those covered by these contracts, whose ages range between 18 and 25 years, and whose names are published on the Ministry’s websites, are waiting to receive text messages within hours informing them to join the volunteer centers and conduct the necessary tests before starting to volunteer at the Ministry of Interior.”
