LONDON (Reuters) - Saudi Arabia has paid Prince Harry and his bride Meghan Merkel $ 60 million for their honeymoon in Jeddah after their marriage in May, despite the austerity situation in Saudi Arabia, Which coincided with the drop in oil prices more than two years ago.

Western reports said the Saudi move came within the framework of "reforms undertaken by Saudi Crown Prince Prince Mohammed bin Salman, as well as support for the economic transformation and revitalization of the tourism industry in Saudi Arabia."

According to a report published by the English-language website The English Arabia Enquirer, hosting the prince and his wife for honeymooning in the Saudi city of Jeddah also comes to promote the kingdom as "open doors" and to attract tourists to the country.

Prince Harry's honeymoon plan, which has not been officially announced until now, includes the cutting of the giant truck rally in Jeddah and the opening of the first branch of the popular US chain of restaurants in Riyadh.

Saudi Arabia is witnessing an unprecedented financial encroachment imposed by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in the past two years and has taken over all vital sectors in the country. These measures have led to a reduction in government allowances and subsidies to a large sector of Saudi citizens, as well as spending cuts, layoffs, And unprecedented for all residents of the Kingdom, whether citizens or expatriates residing.
