Israel accused the general, who is in charge of the external operations of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, of masterminding a rocket attack on Thursday on IDF bases in the Golan Heights from inside Syria.
"Qassem Soleimani is the one who ordered and carried out the missile attack and did not achieve its purpose," Israeli army spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan Konricos told reporters.
