    The media office of Prime Minister Haider Abadi announced on Saturday that the latter received a telephone call from US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
    A statement issued by the office of Abadi said that "during the communication discussed the strengthening of bilateral cooperation between the two countries in various economic, service and security and the unity and stability of Iraq and sovereignty and territorial integrity."
    "The coordination of efforts to eliminate the remaining presence of an advocate within Syrian territory near the Iraqi border has been discussed," the statement added.
    According to the statement, the US Secretary of State "renewed his country's support for a strong, stable and prosperous Iraq as in the strategic framework agreement between the two countries."
    The US embassy announced that Pompeo discussed with Abbadi the formation of the new Iraqi government, which did not address the Office of Abbadi.
