    Iraq calls on the European Union to enter "vigorously" to rebuild liberated areas

    called on the Foreign Minister of Iraq , on Monday, the European Union countries to enter "strongly" in the field of investment, especially the reconstruction of the liberated areas, hoping to deepen ties to support displaced people and projects of energy, transportation, trade, agriculture and health. 

    The Foreign Ministry said in a statement received by Alsumaria News that its minister, Mohamed Ali al-Hakim, received today, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee ofthe European Parliament David McAllister and members of the Committee, the building of the ministry in Baghdad. 

    The ministry said in a statement that "relations between Iraq and the European Union have been discussed and means of strengthening them through the Association Agreement and Cooperation which came into force this year and covers the security, economic, humanitarian and social fields." 

    "I hope for further cooperation in all fields, especially in deepening relations to support displaced people, energy, transport, trade, agriculture and health projects," he said, adding that "the Iraqi government continues to cooperate with friends in the European Union." 

    He also called on the European Union to "strongly engage in the field of investment and reconstruction in Iraq, especially the liberated areas, and rehabilitate the infrastructure of those areas."

    For his part, McAllister expressed "thanks to the wise minister for the offer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of cooperation and coordination with the European Union and continued support for Iraq in all areas to contribute to its permanent stability," according to the statement.
