(Baghdad: Al Furat News) The Department of the Samawah refinery said on Thursday that the issue of layoffs and replacing them with Iranian workers is not related to the refinery.
The director of the refinery, Mohammed Fazza, said in a press statement that "the issue of the dismissal of workers and their replacement with others of any nationality belongs to the project executing company," noting that "the contract between the ministries of oil and industry to establish this project does not involve obligating the company to bring local workers."
He stressed that "the refinery follows only the ratios of completion of the project and the extent of conformity to the specifications contained in the contract as a beneficiary."
A number of employees of one of the companies executing the project of asphalt unit in the Samawa refinery, organized on Wednesday a protest in front of the building of Muthanna province in protest against their dismissal and replacement of Iranian workers.
