    BAGHDAD / The Ministry of Planning announced on Sunday a slight increase in the annual inflation rate during the period from January 2018 to January of this year (0.4%), while the rate of inflation during the month of January increased by (0.6%) compared with December.

    The Ministry of Planning announced on Sunday the monthly and annual inflation rate for the month of January last. 

    "Monthly inflation for the month of January rose by 0.4 percent compared to last December," ministry spokesman Abdel-Zahra al-Hindawi said in a statement received by Alsumaria News. The reason was for the food sector to rise by 0.2 percent, Housing Section by 0.5% "

    "The annual rate of inflation during January 2019 also rose by 0.4 percent compared to the same month last year 2018," Hindawi said, adding that "the high annual inflation rate was affected by the rise of food and non-alcoholic beverages by 2%, in addition to the rise Health, transportation, entertainment, culture and education ranged between 2.4% and 9.3%. " 

    The Center for Statistics and Information Technology announced in January 2012 that it has started to use mechanization to collect different prices and at specific times, rather than the paper form in force, stressing that this will contribute to the speed of collection and accuracy of prices and correct their calculation in case of errors.
