The Assembly recalls that this law is very contrary to the Iraqi constitution, the international agreements and treaties signed on it, as well as the federal laws in force, most notably (Penalties No. 111 of 1969, Publications No. 206 of 1968, Copyright of 1971, Drug Control Act, 2017).
"In addition to the fact that the law contains about 70 articles of punishment, all mentioned in [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] Iraqi Penal Code, as the law ignored many of the electronic safeguards for the Iraqi user."
"The international organizations concerned with freedom of expression should intervene to prevent the [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] speaker from passing political agreements aimed at muzzling the mouths and re-imposing sanctions against liberties to Iraq again," it said.
The association called on "journalists and local organizations concerned, especially the rights and control of them, to get out of silence and to show their positions, which is going on a farce in the House of Representatives."
