The Committee on Parliamentary Integrity, on Tuesday, set four conditions that must be met by the successor of the late Judge Izzat Tawfiq as head of the Integrity Commission.
"The committee does not have a candidate to take over the post of head of the Integrity Commission, but we call on the prime minister to appoint its director because the position of president and deputy is vacant, and therefore the work of the commission will be delayed," Hisham al-Suhail, head of the committee, said in a statement received by Mawazine News.
He added: "We ask those who hold this position to be competent and experienced and not be suspected of corruption, and be an independent figure so that it can work freely away from political influences."
On March 14, 2019, a traffic accident killed the head of the Integrity Commission, Judge Izzat Tawfiq, at the entrance to Dohuk city. The latter was returning from Baghdad via Erbil airport to take the car to Dahuk, where his car collided with a vehicle. Which led to his subsequent death in hospital
