    Baghdad / news
Today, Wednesday, economic expert, Majed Al-Suri, called on Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi to open the file of corruption and parasites on private banks to deal with the financial liquidity crisis.
Al-Suri told Al-Ikhbaria, "It cannot and does not make sense to continue wasting huge amounts of money by auctioning the currency in the central bank in conjunction with a severe economic crisis and the absence of a real money management strategy."
He called the new government headed by Al-Kazemi to "open the file of corruption and parasites on private banks in order to deal with the crisis of economic and financial liquidity."
Al-Suri pointed out that "previous governments had put many banks under the guardianship of their theft and corruption, but they did not hold them accountable legally enough to deter others."
It is noteworthy that Iraq, according to the accreditation of the rentier economy, which depends on selling oil and spending its money, made it an unenviable position, especially with the drop in oil prices in global markets.

I think so... What have we seen over the past week to ten days with the passage of the gov? First we know they have to complete the cabinet, that said we have heard of what I feel are direct issues related the revalue. In the past we learned of these same benchmarks with months of time in between completing any of them.

It's different now, we are reading of all these measures being addressed in reports in the last ten days. We read about passing the budget, stopping the  auctions, replacing the CBI gov, visit with Kuwait on reconstruction and changing the exchange rate.

We know the US is pleased with the new Government, we saw this with the extension of the waiver for electricity for 120 days [four times longer than previously] We also know the new Prime minister understands the need to cozy up to the US because no one else can provide the access to the liquidity Iraq needs for their economy.

We also read about the staunch Iranian supporter Al-Ameri and his political bloc backing off his resistance to America, times are changing...

It just seems to me that this time is looking different than all previous opportunities...

Thanks Ward. Always looking for signs and clues as to when and how. This makes good reading for building up optimism thats been lacking of late.
