Shafaq News / On Sunday, an informed source revealed that the Council of Ministers has made amendments to the 2021 budget bill.

The source told Shafaq News, “Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi informed the Minister of Finance to make an amendment to some budget items, including the abolition of the clause reducing employees’ allocations by 50%, and raising the price of car fuel.”

And a government source reported, earlier on Sunday, that the Iraqi Council of Ministers approved more than half of the budget after 8 hours of discussions.

The source said, to Shafaq News, that the cabinet approved 20 items out of 35 items in the draft general budget law for the year 2021, indicating that “there is insistence on the part of the council to pass them during the currently held session.”

The leaked version of the General Budget Law for 2021 sparked widespread reactions in popular circles, economists and some blocs and political parties, due to its adoption of reducing the value of the Iraqi dinar against the US dollar, reducing employee allocations, raising fuel prices, and other taxes included in the law, as well as causing an increase in prices.
