The Jordanian Ministry of Agriculture issued a clarification regarding raising the former Iraqi flag during the recent meeting with the Iraqi Minister of Agriculture Muhammad Al-Khafaji in Amman.

The ministry said on its Facebook page on Friday, the text: The media spokesperson for the Ministry of Agriculture stated that we received information about the protocol error during the one-on-one meeting held last Thursday between the Jordanian Minister of Agriculture, Eng. Khaled Al-Hanifat And the Iraqi Minister of Agriculture, the engineer Mohammed Al-Khafaji Which was represented by the status of the Iraqi flag, which was approved by the wording of God Akbar in green Kufic script and its three stars before they were removed according to the last amendment.

He added, "Here the minister clarifies that it is an unintended mistake and that Jordan respects the options of the brotherly Iraqi people and supports them for the sake of a strong and prosperous Iraq."

Political analysts commented on the Jordanian response, saying that the context of the conversation does not indicate that it is an apology to the Iraqi government for the error that seems intentional, but rather an explanation of the situation that occurred and described it as an unintended mistake, without the ministry providing a clear apology for the diplomatic offense committed by the Jordanian authorities.

While analysts criticized the failure to issue a statement by the media spokesperson of the Jordanian Ministry of Agriculture directly in front of the media to apologize or clarify instead of using social media sites as well as the poor language used in the publication on the ministry's website, which indicates the lack of real intentions to address the defect.
