Political circles: Al-Kazemi's agenda carries mediation between Tehran, Washington and Riyadh

Baghdad / Muhammad Sabah
Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi is carrying a mediation file between Saudi Arabia and Iran, which will be held in Iraq with the participation of the United States, as part of his agenda to Riyadh, according to informed political circles.
The circles confirm that all the three parties (Iran, the United States, and Saudi Arabia) do not have conditions before holding the meeting, and that it may take place in the coming days.
Iraq adopts mediation
Rahim al-Aboudi, a member of the General Authority for the Wisdom Movement, said to (Al-Mada) that “the dimensions of the visit of Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi to Saudi Arabia aim in nature to calm the hot conditions in the region through the adoption by Iraq of mediation between Tehran and Riyadh and bringing their views closer to solve many problems.
He added that "this approach comes with direct support from the United States of America, which brought the date of the strategic dialogue with Baghdad to the seventh of this April," pointing out that "presenting the date of this dialogue gives us an indication that the United States of America wants to make Iraq a successful mediator in Her next dialogues.
And the US State Department announced, on Tuesday, that the next round of the Iraqi-American strategic dialogue will take place on April 7 via a closed video circuit, according to the 2008 strategic framework agreement between the two countries, adding that the talks will address issues of security and combating terrorism, the economy and energy, political issues and cooperation in the field of Education and culture.
A member of the General Authority indicates that "Al-Kazemi enjoys high acceptance by the United States of America, as well as by the Saudi and Iranian sides," pointing out that "the region is on the verge of calm through the dialogues that will be across Iraq to resolve or bring views between the conflicting parties."
Historical dialogue
"Iraq will play a pivotal role in the upcoming negotiations, the parties of which will be the United States of America and Saudi Arabia with Iran," explains the leader in the Wisdom Movement, noting that "the move of the United States of America to expedite the solution of these problems comes after China’s move and its conclusion of a major agreement with Iran."
Al-Aboudi points out that "Al-Kazemi's visit falls within the discussion of the mechanism of the dialogue form that will soon be launched in the capital, Baghdad, with the participation of the foreign ministers of the United States of America, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Iran to discuss all problems, challenges and differences in the region."
Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi had postponed his visit to Saudi Arabia, scheduled for July 2020, to the earliest possible date agreed upon by the two sides. After King Salman bin Abdulaziz entered the hospital; For checks.
Similar to a visit to Saudi Arabia, he will soon head to Tehran to meet with Iranian officials to discuss the possibility of holding a dialogue in Baghdad, according to Rahim Al-Aboudi.
Al-Aboudi indicated that "the meeting that brings together Saudi Arabia, the United States of America and Iran in Baghdad will be after the start of the strategic dialogue between Iraq and the United States of America on the seventh of next April." And he notes that "Saudi Arabia has not given conditions in exchange for attending and negotiating with Iran until this moment," adding that "Tehran also confirmed its approval and attendance at this meeting or the next meeting in the presence of all parties to the conflict."
Questioning mediation
For his part, independent politician Mithal Al-Alusi believes in a statement to (Al-Mada) that "the Iraqi government does not allow it to play in these regional and international spaces," believing that "the Iraqi government gave a number of impressions of its inability to manage such files, foremost of which is the internal file, the budget and an inventory." The arms are in the hands of the state and the demonstrators.
He adds that "if the government had settled a part of these files, it would have been possible to manage the file of mediation between these countries, but the failure to resolve these files gave evidence that it is unable or unwilling to solve these problems and challenges."
And he continues, "The visit is a protocol mission in the interest of both parties."
In addition, Hussein Allawi, an advisor to Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi, described the visit as important and will witness the signing of a number of agreements between the two countries.
Allawi said, "The visit is important and comes at a time when we need initiative and policy solidarity in light of the Corona pandemic and to strengthen the partnership in trade, investment, development and food security between Iraq and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the one hand, and Iraq and the world on the other hand."
The advisor to the prime minister continued that “the visit will discuss a number of files of interest to the two brotherly countries, including ways to confront the crises in the region, economic coordination and support for development and investment plans presented by the Iraqi National Investment Authority to Saudi companies and the facilities that the Iraqi government will provide to Saudi companies and the orientation towards establishing Joint projects ”. Allawi added that Al-Kazemi "will discuss a number of political, security and economic issues, and a number of agreements will be signed in various fields."
