The Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture, Water and Marshlands announced the goals of the "Planting in Iraq" conference, which will be held next week.
The head of the committee, Salam Al-Shammari, said in a statement that Mawazine News received a copy of: "The need to support the national product by activating the agrarian reform."
He stated, "Supporting farmers and farmers, land reclamation, preventing foreign imports, and introducing modern irrigation requirements are parliamentary and governmental priorities."
Al-Shammari pointed to "preparations for an expanded conference under the slogan (planting in Iraq) early next week, to be followed by another conference on the industrial sector."
He continued: "The ministers of agriculture, water resources, and trade, the council of advisors in the cabinet, and agricultural associations in Iraq will participate in the conference on agriculture, to support the agricultural sector and advance its development and advance its reality."
Al-Shammari noted, "The aim of the conference is ways to advance the agricultural sector, and emphasize the importance of introducing modern irrigation systems and their role in rationalizing water, developing agricultural marketing and protecting the local product, and other important axes that will develop the agricultural sector."
