{Economist: Al Furat News} The Ministry of Commerce announced that inspectors for wheat, within the current marketing season, have been referred to the Integrity Commission.
The ministry’s spokesman, Muhammad Hanoun, told Al-Furat News that “every farmer believes that the laboratory inspection mechanisms are not in compliance with the instructions, he must report, and we, in turn, will take harsh measures against the examiner. Provinces. "
And he stated, "In the event that it becomes clear that there is any violation that the examination is not in conformity with the controls, all examiners will be referred to the Integrity Commission, and last season we referred examiners from the governorates of Salah al-Din, Maysan and Diwaniyah to the Integrity Commission because of the lack of conformity of the laboratory examination with the controls and instructions."
Hanoun pointed out that "it is not strange for us to conduct laboratory examination procedures in the marketing season, which are determined within the marketing plan prepared by the Ministry of Trade before the marketing season, in which all the details of the laboratory examination mechanisms and storage mechanisms are announced in addition to the receipt mechanisms."
He stressed that "this year is the only one that has witnessed easier procedures not by bypassing controls and instructions, but by supporting the farmer and not allowing harm, extortion and pressure. All social lines of communication were opened with the minister directly, and in my capacity as Director General of Control, I met farmers and listened to their problems throughout Iraq, as he did The Minister of Trade visited the governorates of Wasit, Muthanna, Babylon and Salah al-Din, to examine in a field-based manner the problems of farmers.
A trade spokesman declared that "the marketed quantities of wheat amount to more than one million and 500 thousand tons so far, and the quantities have started to rise in the governorates where the marketing season will open."
He categorically denied directing strict instructions to farmers, but we are implementing all directives issued by the Prime Minister to provide all facilities to farmers, and the doors of the Minister of Trade are wide open to any peasant or any Iraqi citizen who believes that it is an injustice in any sector of the ministry.
Farmers in Salah al-Din Governorate complained about the mechanisms of receiving and classifying the wheat crop in the receiving and marketing centers, while the financial need pushed Diyala farmers to market the grains to the private market due to the delay in the payment of marketing dues by the Iraqi government.
The farmers demanded the Minister of Trade to come to the delivery center and save farmers from heavy material losses, criticizing the classification mechanisms by the government committee despite the lack of government support and fuel and electricity problems for farmers throughout the winter plan period.
It is noteworthy that Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi visited Wasit governorate today, Wednesday, and inspected the progress of work in Silo Al-Dabouni in the governorate, and directed to address obstacles to receiving wheat from farmers.
Al-Kazemi also directed the concerned authorities to overcome all the obstacles facing the governorate's farmers, and to support them with everything they need in order to increase the production of agricultural crops and diversify them to cover the needs of the market and achieve self-sufficiency for the citizen.
