The ministry stated, in a statement that Mawazine News received a copy of, that "the forty-seventh meeting of the Middle East Regional Committee at the World Tourism Organization, which was held today, Thursday, witnessed Iraq obtaining the positions of Vice President of the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization and Vice-President of the Regional Committee for the Middle East." .
The statement added, "The meeting was held in the new building that was inaugurated yesterday in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and its agenda carried many files related to tourism in the Arab region and the world."
He pointed out that "the meeting was chaired by Ahmed bin Abdullah Hamid Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of State for Entrepreneurship and Small and Medium Enterprises in the United Arab Emirates, with the participation of Zurab Pololeik Ashvili, Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization, the tourism ministers of the countries of the Middle East region, as well as representatives of the member states of the United Arab Emirates." The committee, which includes the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Sultanate of Oman, the State of Kuwait, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the State of Qatar, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Syria, and Yemen.
He pointed out that "the meeting coincides with the launch of the conference to revive Arab tourism held in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, to discuss the reality of Arab tourism after the Corona virus crisis and the proposed solutions to revive tourism and restore its position as an important economic provider."
