{Local: Al Furat News} The Ministry of Electricity announced, on Sunday, coordination with the Ministry of Oil to build liquefied gas platforms and convert them into dry to operate a number of production stations, confirming that Siemens and General Electric will continue the work assigned to them in a number of projects.
The spokesman for the Ministry of Electricity, Ahmed Al-Abadi, said in a press statement, "The ministry has activated its coordination with the Ministry of Oil in several directions, including the establishment of liquefied gas platforms to be installed in Basra and other cities that would convert liquefied gas into dry to operate a number of production stations, and this in The framework of the government's endeavors to reduce imported gas and not rely on a unilateral source.
He stated, "There are technical committees formed within the framework of the powers of the Ministerial Council for Energy between the Ministries of Oil and Electricity, to implement quick-set stations that depend on operating them on the associated gas that is now burning, so instead of being burned, there will be stations set up to supply the system with additional energy."
He added that "the ministry stands at a distance from the concerned companies specialized in supplying gas to Iraq, and that the government's efforts are directed towards rehabilitating the Iraqi gas fields, and not to rely on the supply of gas from any country."
He added that "work is underway in this aspect, but it requires time," stressing that "the ministry has no reservations about any company, and there are discussions with the Qatari side to supply gas, provided that it matches the price and the required specifications."
He indicated that "those responsible for the fuel plan are the ministries of oil and electricity, which have expressed the desire to provide gas, and now the Ministry of Oil has a great effort to provide gas locally, as it has succeeded in laying a Qatari pipeline to equip Salah al-Din station and provide national gas to some stations." Fills the need at this stage. "
Al-Abadi affirmed that "General Electric and Siemens are continuing to carry out their work in the implementation of the first phase of the works entrusted to them and are past under the supervision and knowledge of the Ministry and with time ceilings, and there are works that they do such as installing cooling systems for stations to raise the level of production loads in many stations and establishing transfer stations." And the secondary 400 and 132 (KV), 46 of them have entered into operation, in addition to installing the obstetric units in the Dhi Qar governorate and working on periodic maintenance in the stations (Kirkuk, Debs and Al-Khairat), noting that "the two companies' progress in the other stages depends on financing and loans."
Regarding coordination with the Ministry of Industry, a spokesman for the Ministry of Electricity explained, "The ministry's contracts with the Ministry of Industry companies, such as Diyala and electrical industries, continue, in addition to going with private sector companies, as all what is produced from government sector companies are purchased to meet the ruling need of transformers through payment." On credit. "
He indicated that "the mechanisms of contracting with (the private) were carried out in accordance with government decisions and at cheaper prices than the government sector," stressing that "the beginning of June will witness the completion of the ministry's plans in all the joints of the network, including transmission, production and distribution, in preparation for the summer season."
